Web and print projects include consulting as a technical editor, a user experience expert, and a digital music expert. Clients include the Associated Press, Wal-Mart, and Newhouse Publishing.

Fall 2003–Winter 2005

Content Manager, eBay Inc., Campbell, California

A member of eBay's User Experience and Design Group responsible for helping to write engaging content for eBay products. Created user-centered content, worked with cross-functional teams to create the best Web content for each product or feature on the site. Helped to define eBay's content strategy to support business goals.

Fall 2002–Fall 2003

Marketing Communications Manager, Sentius Corporation, Palo Alto, California

Responsible for all forms of corporate communication for the Web application software company. Helped redefine corporate market positioning and strategy. Edited W3C white papers authored by the W3C's Semantic Web group and other usability industry experts. Managed redesigns of corporate Web presence. Defined and managed the internal creative process between engineering and marketing departments.

Spring 2000–Fall 2002

Executive Editor, Angry Coffee, San Francisco, California

Responsible for all editorial content at AngryCoffee.com, an Internet music distribution company. Helped develop and manage a variety of content initiatives for the company. Hired, edited, and managed a crew of freelance writers to deliver content, and acted as chief departmental liaison to company's top management. Developed the site's voice, and found and created appropriate partnerships for the brand.

Spring 1998–Spring 2000

Contributing Editor, Wired Digital, San Francisco, California

Covered Web standards issue and new content areas on Wired Digital's Webmonkey. Launching an online employment channel. Other duties included tracking metrics and maintaining alignment with the advertising sales department.

Summer 1997–Winter 1998

Creative Supervisor, Martin/Williams Advertising, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Hired and managed creative talent in day-to-day Web production for award-winning Omnicom Network, Inc., advertising agency. Helped articulate Internet strategies and creative concepts for agency's clients and developed business and editorial plans for the department. Reported directly to top management. Had direct creative responsibility for large and diverse clients, including Target, 3M, and the World Trade Organization.

Summer 1995–Summer 1997

Senior Editor, Wired Digital, San Francisco, California

developed and managed programming channels for the world's first commercial website. Programs included from Wired Digital's sports Web site, Adrenaline, to a database of website reviews, Net Surf Central, and the award-winning how-to site, Webmonkey. Webmonkey emerged as the only profitable Hotwired content property prior to Wired Digital's merger with Lycos, Inc., and has been recently relaunched.

Fall 1992–Summer 1995

Stringer, Associated Press Bay Area Sports Bureau, San Francisco, California

Reported and wrote wire stories about Men's Division I NCAA basketball and football. Wrote 300-word stories on 15-minute deadlines and transmitted stories back to the office for immediate broadcast over the Wire.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

UC Berkeley Extension Guest Lecturer, multimedia department, San Francisco, California

Guest lecturer in the Extension's Web Building classes explaining the fundamentals of designing websites that were accessible to people with physical disabilities according to W3C standards.

Humboldt Institute of Technology Studies

Five years of advising and teaching as a founding board member at the Humboldt Institute of Technological Studies. HITS has been incorporated into the curriculum of the Southern Humboldt Unified School District.
